すじがき【筋書き】

1 〔梗概〕 a synopsis 《pl. -ses》; an outline; a story (line); a plot; a script; the argument 《of a drama》.

●サッカーは筋書きのないドラマだ. A soccer game is an unscripted drama.

・それはまるで筋書きのないドラマだった. It was just like a drama without a plot [where you don't know what is going to happen next].

●筋書きを書く write a synopsis

・筋書きを述べる give a synopsis [summary] 《of…》; outline; describe in outline; make a (rough) sketch 《of…》.

2 〔計画〕 a plan; a program; a scheme; a schedule. [⇒けいかく²]

筋書きどおりに as planned [scheduled]; according to [as per] schedule; according to (the) script.
